Southeast Road Runners club -- Douglas Treadwell Ditch Trail Run: Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Sandy Beach for 9 a.m. race start. Course is about five miles and finishes at the snowmachiners' parking lot above Blueberry Hill. This is the first race in a new SERR "Trail Run" series. Info: Steve Davis, 586-9099.

Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club -- Dredge Lake mountain bike race: Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Dredge Lake Trail entrance (off Back Loop Road, near the Mendenhall Glacier) for a 10 a.m. race start. Course is two or six laps. Info: Dennis Travis, 789-7546.

Juneau Alpine Club -- Berner's Mountain trek. This two-day (June 8-9) trip's required gear includes kayak, canoe or other boat. Info: Trip leader Gerry Landry, 789-7058.

Glacier Swim Club monthly board meeting -- Meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, in Room 222 at Juneau-Douglas High School. Info: Carol Pratt, 790-4109, or Gary Crowe, 586-5325.

Juneau Youth Football League -- The JYFL seeks someone to fill the vacant cheerleading chair on its board of directors. The chair oversees all cheerleading actvities in the JYFL prgram. No cheerleading experience is required, just a desire to work with a valuable youth program. Info: JYFL president Karen Lawfer, 364-3642.

Kluane-Chilkat International Bicycle Relay registration -- Forms for the annual 160-mile race from Haines Junction, Yukon Territory, to Haines, Alaska, are now available online at http://www.hainesak.com/bikerelay/. Cyclists compete as solo riders or teams of two, four or eight riders. This year's race takes place on Saturday, June 15. This year the rules have been produced in booklet form, and copies will be available soon in Juneau at both Juneau Racquet Club-Alaska Club locations, the Foggy Mountain Shoppe and at Mountain Gears. The early registration deadline was May 15 and the entry fee jumped from $34 (U.S.) to $49 per rider after May 15. Only 1,200 riders are allowed in the race. Info: Dave Ringle, 790-7249.

CCSL Adult Soccer League Registration -- Team registration for the Capital City Soccer League will be held on Wednesday, June 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Juneau Public Library, 292 Marine Way. Registrations for the women's classic league will also be accepted on June 19 at the library or can be mailed to the CCSL office. Info: CCSL, 364-2503.

Hank Harmon Rifle Range construction -- The construction of safety barriers for the short range and the long range began on or about Thursday, April 18. One or both of the ranges will be closed to shooting during the contractor's working hours (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) six days a week for a period of up to six weeks. Juneau 4-H spring running program -- The club meets weekly at 5 p.m. on Thursdays at various locations around the city (please don't drop off children after 5 p.m. without speaking to leaders and be prepared to pick runner up at 5:45 p.m.). The club is for runners in grades 1-5 (no kindergarten students this year) and will be led by local runners John and Jamie Bursell. Parents are encouraged to run with their children. The club will meet at different locations each week through July 4. Upcoming run meeting places include Sandy Beach on June 6, Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park track on June 13, the Wetlands Trail on June 20 and Perseverance Trail (lower) on June 27. The season will end with the Douglas Fourth of July two-mile race on July 4 and the Governor's Cup one-mile race on Saturday, July 6. Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club -- Weekly women's training rides take place on Wednesdays, with alternating weeks riding from downtown and the Valley.
