...for helping with Bike to Work Day
On behalf of Juneau's bicycle commuters and the Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club, I would like to thank everyone who helped with our fifth annual Bike To Work Day celebration on Friday, May 18. In spite of a rainy dawn, a large number of Juneau's bike riders joined us in celebrating this national event.
I would especially like to thank our event sponsors: Super Bear Supermarket for providing and hosting a continental breakfast for our Valley riders, Silverbow Bagels for providing bagels and coffee at the courthouse plaza, Capital Copy for printing the posters on short notice, and First National Bank of Anchorage for their generous donation to help pay for advertising and posters.
I'd also like to thank all those that volunteered their time, energy and suggestions to print and distribute posters, sign proclamations, assist with publicity, set up the breakfasts, and help with the many details for this event:
Odin Brudie, Frankie Pillifant, Tom Meyer, Nancy Waterman, Ben Bohen, Ken Alper, Beth Melville, Tom Melville, Jill Ramiel, Lloyd Johnson, Pat Shea, Craig Walsh, Vincent Lew, the Juneau Empire, KTOO, KINY, KJNO, Mayor Sally Smith, Governor Tony Knowles, Angela Hull, Liz Landon, and Susan Fitzgerald.
We urge Juneauites to join us in enjoying the health and social benefits of cycling to work. Let's make every day in Juneau Bike To Work Day!
