Title and firm: Edwell John Jr. is an A+ system support specialist and president and CEO of Admiralty Computers.

Services: For more than five years, Admiralty Computers has provided small business computer consulting, on-site computer service, networking support and Web design for small businesses.

It also offers training in the form of certification seminars, network systems training and office support seminars that include Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Staff includes information technology consultants, small business IT consultants and virtual office support specialists.

Resume: John is extensively trained in the field of computer information systems. He was a U.S. Army aviation avionics/electronics shop supervisor for 13 years and has experience operating, maintaining and calibrating all types of avionics and electronics equipment.

He taught information technology at the Southeast Regional Resource Center and the University of Alaska Southeast, both in Juneau, and at the Cittone Institute in Edison, N.J.

Community involvement: John is on the board of directors at Kootznoowoo Inc. and is a member of Juneau's Yun Shu Ka Dance Group and Angoon's Daaxaat Kanadaa Dancers. John serves as a Tlingit and Haida Community Council member.

Accomplishments: John was awarded with a scholarship for the Kusteeyi Institute at UAS for the summer of 2001, and developed the Web site for Kootznoowoo Inc. He assisted in the coordination of ComTech 2001 and found summer internships for scholarship recipients in the Information Technology Program at UAS.

Background: John, 38, is a full Tlingit and was raised in Angoon until he was 6. He moved to Juneau with his mother and graduated in 1982 from Juneau-Douglas High School.

After high school, John joined the U.S. Army for the training in avionics and electronics. He was active in the Army until September 1995, when he joined the New Jersey National Guard and later transferred to the Alaska Guard.
