• 21st annual Marlintini's/Coca-Cola Softball Tournament: More than a dozen teams are scheduled to play in this combination round-robin/double-elimination tournament. There are three divisions - men's, women's and coed. Most games will be held at Dimond Park, with some possibly played at Savikko Park. Info and schedules: On the Web at

• Juneau Soccer Club - Fourth annual GCI-JSC 6v6 tournament: The tournament features five divisions - boys' and girls' elementary and middle school, and coed high school - with all games at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. For schedules and more information, look on the Web at

Friday, June 11

• Juneau Freewheelers - Team Time Trial: This 25-mile time trial begins at 6:30 p.m. on the North Douglas side of the bridge. There is also a 14.5-mile event in the sport division. Info: Chris Chiles, 789-5138.

Saturday, June 12

• Southeast Road Runners - Windfall Lake Trail Challenge: This challenging run of about 14 miles starts at 9 a.m. (registration 8:30 a.m.) at the West Glacier parking lot, just past Skaters Cabin. It goes up Montana Creek Road and Montana Creek Trail, crossing over to the Windfall Lake Trail and ending at its trailhead near Mile 27 of Glacier Highway. Info: Ben Haight, 780-4215.



• Doyle Academy Baseball School - Gastineau Channel Little League will host its ninth annual Spring Players' School on June 7-11 at Miller Field, located next to Glacier Valley Elementary School. Camps run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, with separate programs for ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-older. Cost is $250 for full days, $150 for half days. Make checks out to GCLL. • Juneau Soccer Club Tiffeny Milbrett & Christine Sinclair soccer camp and clinics: JSC is sponsoring a camp for club members on June 8-10, featuring U.S. National Team member Tiffeny Milbrett and Canadian National Team member Christine Sinclair. The camp runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day, and the cost is $100. Registration information on the Web at Milbrett and Sinclair will also host two community clinics - for boys and girls ages 6-12 on Thursday, June 10 from 3 to 5 p.m.; and for women of all ages on Thursday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost for each clinic is $25, with on-site registration. • Thunder Mountain Sports Camps: Registration is underway for Thunder Mountain youth soccer and baseball camps, which will feature local coaches along with high school and college coaches from the Lower 48. Four camps are available: "wee" soccer, July 5-9, $75; regular soccer, July 12-16, $100; advanced soccer, July 19-23, $100; baseball, July 19-23, $75. • Inaugural Pelican King Salmon Derby - The inaugural derby runs from May 28 through June 6 and has a $2,500 first prize and total prizes worth more than $10,000. Tickets are $30 each. Derby rules can be found on the Web at Info: Norm Carson, 1-907-735-2460.

• Treadwell Arena inline hockey leagues - Juneau Parks and Recreation/Treadwell Arena will be running inline hockey leagues for youths and adults from June 11 through August 13. • Juneau Disc Golf Association registration - The Juneau Disc Golf Association's season has started. The new course is at Aant'iyeik Park, located above Glacier Highway between the Auke Rec turnoff and Lena Loop Road. The next tournament is scheduled for June 5-6. • Adult volleyball/basketball open gyms - Meet from 7-9 p.m. on Fridays and from 7-9 p.m. on Sundays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School gym. Cost is $4 and open gym is limited to adults (age 18-older) only. Info: Community Schools, 463-1700, Ext. 325.

• Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 3-7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and 3-9 p.m. on Fridays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. • Adult indoor soccer open gyms - Sessions are held from 7-9 p.m. on Sundays and most Fridays at Floyd Dryden Middle School. Check for updated schedules. Open to players 18 and older; cost is $5 per session. Contact: Pat Race, 586-3440.
