Airport begins construction on front terminal

Posted: Friday, June 06, 2008

JUNEAU - The Juneau International Airport began construction in front of the terminal Thursday, meaning traffic lanes and traffic flow will be affected.

There is no parking and no unattended vehicles are allowed in front of the terminal. There is only active loading and unloading in the two lanes nearest to the curb. Traffic control will be strictly enforced, with ticketing and towing if necessary. Anyone not actively loading or unloading is asked to use the short-term lot.

Additionally, pedestrian crosswalks will be modified due to the construction. Signs will direct pedestrians to the crosswalks and parking lots. Drivers are reminded that the speed limit is posted at 10 mph and to watch for pedestrians and construction workers.
