His colleagues said he was nominated because he always has a smile on his face no matter how much he is sweating, and is a great positive influence on the department.

He says, "I enjoy the hard work and the feeling like we've accomplished something good when we're called upon."

Along with the regular drills and training, Seng recently took on learning how to operate the fire engines. In his spare time, he helped with the Firefighter I Academy and joined the special teams.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Paul M. Lorentz, son of Faith L. and Ervin C. Lorentz of Haines, Alaska, recently reported for duty aboard the guided missile frigate USS Ingraham, home ported in Everett, Wash.

Lorentz is a 2006 graduate of Haines High School of Haines, Alaska and joined the Navy in July 2006.
