A clarifying word on home-school program

Letter to the editor

Thank you to reporter Eric Fry for his coverage of education in Juneau and, in particular, for the June 6 story on the changes in the district's home-school program, now called HomeBRIDGE (Bringing Resources to Independent Development, Growth, and Education), which allows students to access local classes, teachers, and activities.

A quick clarification: HomeBRIDGE does not "give" money to families. Instead, families are reimbursed up to a certain allocation amount (depending on grade level) for purchase of accredited, non-religious curricula, resources, and lessons.
