Dealership receives funds for expansion
Sound off on the important issues at
ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority Board of Directors recently approved $5.4 million, or 90 percent participation, in a business loan to Northstar Auto of Juneau, allowing it to purchase another dealership.
The purpose of the Northstar loan is for long-term refinancing of the existing Chrysler, Dodge and Subaru dealership and service center, combined with equity extraction, to purchase an adjacent dealership, which includes Honda, Toyota, GMC, Honda Power Equipment and National Car Rental franchises. About 23 new jobs will be created as a result.
The total $6 million loan was brought to the authority by First National Bank Alaska, which originated the loan and is participating with a $600,000 portion.
Approval by the authority's board is required for any loan participation that equals or exceeds $3 million.
