On behalf of the March of Dimes, we would like to thank our March for Babies walk committee who slaved away to make our walk the success it was this year: Gina White, Kristy Tibbles, Diana Pleasants, Tina Pleasants, Susan Oldacres , Chris Urata and Tracey Cunningham.
And thanks to a few more: Tracy Solomon, Mollie Aicher, Jolene Langel; Rep. Cathy Muñoz, our guest speaker; our sponsors, KTOO, Petro Marine, Bartlett Regional Hospital and Hecla Greens Creek Mine; and others, SAGA, Wal-Mart, Spinning Pig, Subway, Southeast Alaska Gymnastics Academy, Safeway, Capital City Republican Women, Alaskan Fudge Co., Chris and Deanna Lewis, McDonald's, Juneau-Douglas High School; Jeff Brown for entertaining the kids and a few adults; Vhee Batag, and his staff at Alaskan & Proud, who cooked burgers and hot dogs all day raising money to benefit the March of Dimes; and Gov. Sarah Palin, for coming out to join the moms walk.
This year we saw more than 122 walkers and raised nearly $12,000. Gina White was our top walker winning the Alaska Airlines ticket, good anywhere they fly. White is our shining star. Every year she raises more and it totals $10,000 for the March of Dimes March for Babies. Thank you for being part of our mission to prevent birth defects, prematurity and infant mortality. Because one day all babies will be born healthy.
