The Mendenhall Flying Lions Club wants to say thank you to members of the community for making two Lions Club projects on May 23 a great success.
Thank you to the Juneau Rotary Club for hosting a fantastic Southeast Outdoor Safety Expo, which we hope becomes an annual event! The Lions successfully screened more than 60 children and adults for vision impairments and provided very important information to attendees on the importance of eye safety and eye protection while working and living in the great outdoors. We look forward to dressing the part and showing our support for this great event again next year!
The Mendenhall Flying Lions Club also participated in the Community Day on Campus by selling hot dogs and passing out balloons to raise money for our vision projects and support important resources like the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Alaska Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, and the Aurora Borealis Eyeglass Recycling Center.
Thank you to the donors for this event for helping make this a successful fundraiser: Pepsi, Don Abel, Mark Jimmerson and Carol Young of NANA Management Services, Nancy DeCherney of the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council and the University of Alaska Southeast.
Most importantly, we would like to thank the Juneau community for coming out on a beautiful day and visiting our booths, asking questions and supporting Lions Club projects. We are already working hard to invest these funds back into our great community. We look forward to seeing you all at future Mendenhall Lions Club projects and at these events again next year.
