JUNEAU - Two drivers were trapped inside their vehicles Saturday night following a collision at the intersection of Mendenhall Loop Road and Nancy Street.
Police were notified of the accident about 11 p.m.
A 1986 Dodge pickup driven by a 44-year-old man was traveling on Egan Drive and a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by a 51-year-old man was heading toward the Mendenhall Glacier, according to police, when it crossed out of its lane and hit the Dodge.
The men were safely extricated from their vehicles and transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Dodge was treated and released; the driver of the Ford was admitted for observation.
Witnesses reported the driver of the Ford was driving erratically on Mendenhall Loop Road, and then crossed the lane and hit the Dodge head-on. Two search warrants were served on the driver of the Ford and the vehicle. Evidence will be forwarded to the State Crime Lab for analysis. Charges could follow depending on the results.
