Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Mitchell Ray Brooks, 21, was arrested for drunken driving at 1 a.m. Friday near Trout Street. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


•A silver Mongoose mountain bike was reported stolen at 8:51 p.m. Thursday near Mendenhall Mall Road. The bike is valued at $250.

• A straw purse and a CD player were reported stolen at 9:32 p.m. Thursday from a vehicle parked near Cinema Drive.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• Police arrested a man, 36, for fourth-degree criminal mischief at 4:24 p.m. Thursday near South Franklin Street. He also was charged with being a drunken person on a licensed premises. He was lodged at the state prison.

• A water pipe was reported damaged at 9:41 a.m. Friday near Thunder Mountain Road. Police did not have an estimate of damage.

Vehicle accidents:

• No one was cited following a one-vehicle accident at 1:16 a.m. Friday near Albatross Street. A 1985 Nissan truck rolled out of a driveway and knocked over an electrical distribution box. Police did not have a damage estimate.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Thursday at 12:04 p.m. near Great Western Street, 8:03 p.m. near Kanat'a Street, and 10:21 p.m. near Erin Street, and Friday at 8:37 a.m. near Engineer's Cutoff.
