This letter is in response to the letter to the editor entitled "Abortion issue not about right to kill," by Kyle Curtis. Mr. Curtis is correct about my disdain for abortions and Planned Parenthood. This is why I have the opinion of it and other organizations that perform abortions:
1. They brutally and maliciously kill hundreds of innocent babies each day. When I heard an abortion being performed in a training session in 1993 on a CD distributed by a pro-life group, I was just sickened and my spirit was severely saddened when the instructor used a pair of scissors to puncture the skull to vacuum the brains out and then to have the interns break into applause.
2. Planned Parenthood promotes sexuality. In their primary book used by instructors to teach 10-year-olds and up, "It's Perfectly Normal," "there are dozens of cartoon pictures of full frontal nudity, illustrations showing children how to masturbate and put on condoms." Planned Parenthood describes this material as entertaining for children. This is not what should be taught to our 10-year-olds in schools.
3. Planned Parenthood conceals statutory rape. Life Dynamics posed as a 13-year-old girl sexually active with a 22-year-old man and calls into a the organization to get information about her being pregnant. Life Dynamics said in making 800 calls, 91 percent of the time the person they reached at the center agreed to conceal the statutory rape.
4. In closing, my greatest fear is that Planned Parenthood will raise enough money to set up a clinic in Juneau to make the next killing fields here.
I have a great deal of compassion for people that have been affected by abortion. I always try to keep the Lord's second most important commandment in my life. In Matthew 22:39, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." I believe this Godly principle rings truer and truer in my every day. I am pro-choice, but I'm not pro-abortion, in saying that we are all accountable for every decision we make in our lives. God bless and I wish you well.
