Juneau police and fire officials and state police reported:

Sound off on the important issues at

Driving while intoxicated:

• Patti Heppner, 44, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday near Foster Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center and her vehicle was impounded.


• A 43-year-old man was arrested at 10:37 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of third- and fourth-degree assault. The location of the arrest was not given.


• At 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, a 25-year-old man reported a red 5-gallon gas jug (worth $12), a five-pound ax and two blue folding chairs (worth $30) had been stolen from his campsite near Skater's Cabin Road.

• At 8:25 a.m. Thursday, a 59-year-old woman reported a $500 white Canondale 15-speed bicycle had been stolen in the 2200 block of Douglas Highway.

• At 8:36 a.m. Thursday, a 54-year-old woman reported her tan 1995 Subaru Legacy was rifled in the 2200 block of Meadow Lane. Nothing was taken.

Traffic accidents:

At 12:29 p.m., a rental vehicle was hit while parked by a 1999 Ford in the 400 Block of Sixth Street. The drivers exchanged information.

• A 16-year-old girl was cited at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 9100 block of Parkwood Drive after she drove her 2003 red Ford Mustang ($5,000 damage) into a green 1987 Toyota truck ($1,000 damage).

• A 42-year-old man was cited for failing to maintain a safe distance at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday near Mendenhall Loop Road after he drove his 1990 Oldsmobile into a 2007 Honda. The Honda sustained $6,000 in damage, while the Oldsmobile needs $300 in repairs.

Found property:

• At 2:51 p.m. Wednesday, a black and silver mountain bike was discovered near Mendenhall Loop Road.

• A backpack was found at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday somewhere in the Juneau area. It was turned in to police for safekeeping.

Bear complaints:

• A nonaggressive black bear was spotted at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Dixon Street.

Domestic-violence calls: 0.

Bear-related calls: 1.
