Program description: The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council provides Girl Scouting opportunities to girls in 14 SE Alaska Communities. Girls from ages 5 to 17 participate in troop, group, and individual activities. Girl Scouting is open to all girls regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, socio-economic status, or disability. Girl Scouting provides training for volunteers and is works to empower leadership. There are many ways to volunteer or support Girl Scouts.

Volunteer positions available: A resident camp counselor, a responsible adult who enjoys working with Girl Scouts, is needed. Make a difference by doing something you enjoy. Volunteer for a week at camp. Camp Feather Winds will be Aug. 12-17 in Haines. Volunteers must complete a background check, health screening.
