Yakutat Assembly overrides mayoral veto

The six-member Yakutat Borough Assembly voted Thursday to override a mayoral veto of its decision to hire Scot Ogan as borough manager.

Assemblywoman Rhoda Jensen was the only lawmaker to support Mayor Dave Stone's veto, said borough clerk Cathy Bremner.

Ogan is a former Republican state representative from Palmer who resigned in 2004 amid accusations of corruption. Critics said he promoted legislation

that would have benefited a company he worked as a consultant, and the state approved a recall petition.

Ogan denied the allegations and said that health problems prompted him to

resign.

The Yakutat Assembly also voted Thursday to continue the process of job

negotiations with Ogan.
