Science advisory panel on cruise ship wastewater to meet

JUNEAU - The Science Advisory Panel will meet Thursday and Friday for the second time since its inception.

Panel members will meet Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in the Egan Room at Centennial Hall. The meetings are open to the public.

This panel was established by the Alaska Legislature in 2009 to provide balanced, unbiased technical expert assessment of commercial passenger vessel wastewater treatment systems, and to advise the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation on the effectiveness of systems currently in use. It will also study the effectiveness and economic feasibility of different wastewater treatment methods.
