ANCHORAGE - The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man missing from a ship 775 miles southwest of Alaska's Kodiak Island.
A Turkish crew member early Tuesday was reported to have fallen overboard from the 626-foot Yasa Fortune, a bulk carrier flagged in the Marshall Islands. The man's name was not released.
The Coast Guard received a report of the missing man at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday and issued a marine information broadcast requesting assistance from vessels in the area.
A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircraft launched from Kodiak at 3:55 a.m.
The agency says the crew of the Smarty, another bulk carrier, assisted in the search. The search was suspended just before noon.
Winds in the area were calm, with a mile of visibility and 43-degree water temperature.
