JUNEAU - The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings this week in Anchorage on reauthorizing the Regulatory Commission of Alaska.
Gov. Tony Knowles has called a special session of the Legislature starting June 24 to address the issue.
A measure to reauthorize the commission passed the House during the regular legislative session in May, but stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee, headed by Robin Taylor, a Wrangell Republican.
Taylor said the hearings he has scheduled this week are designed to gather more information before the special session starts. The hearings will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office.
