A heavy equipment operator loads a truck with the remains of Colonial Apartments behind the Juneau Alliance for Mental Health Inc. building at the corner of Second and Franklin streets Monday. The Juneau Assembly in January allocated $460,000 to tear down two downtown buildings occupied by JAMHI. The Colonial Apartments is the first to go. The yellow JAMHI building also will be demolished to provide room for a 40-space parking lot.
