Southeast Road Runners - Windfall Lake Trail Challenge Run: Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Windfall Lake Trailhead turnoff, near Mile 26 Veterans Memorial Hwy., for a 9 a.m. race start. This challenging course of about 14 miles features rugged trail and dirt roads, finishing on the paved Montana Creek Road at the West Glacier Trail parking lot just past Skaters Cabin. Juneau Soccer Club - U17/U18 Boys Tryouts: Tryouts for a combined U17/U18 boys team will be held Saturday, June 11, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Adair Kennedy. Male players born between August 1, 1987 and July 31, 1989 are invited to compete for a roster spot on the team. Tryout fee is $25 with a signed JSC registration form. No fee for current JSC members. KTOO Fun Run: KTOO wil host a fun run on Tuesday. The 5K run goes down Egan drive, up Main, across 4th and up Basin Road, down the flume, thend own toward JDHS and back to KTOO. LIFE On The Move Flag Football - The Juneau School District will be hosting three seperate flag football camps. Taking place on June 13-16, June 27-30 and July 11-14, the camps will go from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Adair Kennedy field. The earliest camp is for ages 15-18, the second camp is for ages 12-14 and the July camp is for ages 9-11. The camps will focus on conditioning, techniques, drills and strategies. LIFE On The Move Volleyball - The Juneau School District will be hosting two volleyball camps. Two camps are designed for incoming sixth and eight graders. It will take place July 25-28 and Aug. 8-11 from 1-4:30 p.m. at Dzantiki Heeni. These free camps will focus on fundamental skills of passing, setting and hitting through drills and scrimmages. A camp for incoming high school students will take place Aug. 1-2 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. at Dzantiki Heeni. Registration forms are available at the Boys and Girls Club. LIFE On The Move Outdoor Adventure Camp - The Juneau School District hosts an outdoor adventure camp for children ages 14-18 from June 30 to July 2. The cost is $10 and food, activities, lodging and transportation will be provided. Activities will include canoeing, hiking, campfires, archery, fishing, storytelling and more. LIFE On The Move Floor Hockey - The Juneau School District hosts free floor hockey at Dzantiki Heeni Middle School on June 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is designed for third and sixth graders and all participants should bring emergency contact information with them. Classic Women's Outdoor Soccer - Registration for women's classic outdoor soccer has begun and will be ongoing throughout June. Registration forms may be picked up and dropped off at the Zach Gordon Youth Center or online at http://www.juneausoccer.com. The season begins the first week of July and is open to women who are new to the game or experienced players who which to play in a non-competitive league. Teams will play 14 games and usually play once a week. Games are usually played on Sundays and Mondays with a few midweek exceptions. Info: Kurt West, 364-2503.
Capital City Men's and Women's Soccer League - Registration for the men's and women's outdoor season is currently in progress. Team registration for the women will be held at the downtown library from 4:30-6 p.m. on June 14. The men's league draft will occur on June 21. Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp registration - The Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp will take place at Juneau-Douglas High School from July 18-22. The camp features both a boys and a girls session and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. It is available for boys and girls ages 7-15 and costs $265 for the weeklong camp. Juneau Women's Golf League - The Juneau Women's Golf League is looking for experience and new players interested in playing golf. The league meets everything Thursday at 6 p.m. and Mendenhall Golf League. There will be a shotgun start. Golf club rentals are available and cost is $9.45 per round, plus tax. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Treadwell Arena schedule - The Treadwell Arena will be running four half-day (8 a.m.-noon), week-long summer camps for youth ages 6-12. Available camps: Camp 3: Survivor Week (July 11-July 15). Camp 4: Explore the Outdoors, (July 18-July 22). Please check our Web site for more information and registration forms. There will also be a roller hockey clinic from June 13-15 for one hour each night. Summer drop-in activities will be as follows: Drop-in gym is Monday-Friday, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Drop-in Floor Hockey/Gym is Monday and Wednesday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., and Drop-in Roller Hockey is Tuesday and Thursday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Schedules for summer drop-in activities are also available on our website. Juneau Archery Club youth shooting - Archery shooting is held on Friday nights, with sessions at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
