Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts:

• Police cited a woman, 25, for shoplifting at 3:54 p.m. Monday near South Franklin Street.

• A vehicle battery, valued at $70, was reported stolen at 5:41 p.m. Monday from a truck parked near Mendenhall Loop Road. The battery was stolen between 11 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.

• Police arrested a girl, 16, for fourth-degree theft, a misdemeanor, at 8:23 p.m. Monday near South Franklin Street. Police also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The warrant charged she failed to comply with alcohol screening and the conditions of her probation. The original charge was tobacco possession. She was lodged at the Johnson Youth Center.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was reported at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday near Stephen Richards Memorial Drive.
