JUNEAU - A Republican challenging U.S. Rep. Don Young wants six debates leading to the Aug. 24 primary.
In a letter to Young, released by Sheldon Fisher's campaign on Wednesday, Fisher says he's been asked by voters repeatedly about when there will be a debate. Fisher, whose branding himself as a fiscal conservative, says the election will be important because voters are seeking reform within the federal government.
Fisher's a former communications executive. Young is seeking his 20th term.
Young campaign manager Sara Schwan said Young's congressional duties are his top priority. She said the campaign's intends to work with Fisher on a debate plan that fits both candidate's schedules.
