Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Ian Grant, 25, was arrested for drunken driving at 12:51 a.m. today on Calhoun Street downtown. He also was charged with reckless endangerment after the 2001 red Jeep he was driving was involved in an accident. The Jeep was impounded with $8,000 damage. Grant was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

David J. Grant, 36, was arrested for drunken driving at 2:19 a.m. today in Lemon Creek. He also was charged with resisting arrest, one count of reckless endangerment and refusing a breath test. His vehicle was impounded and he was taken to state prison.


A 46-year-old woman called at 11 a.m. Monday to report the theft of gas from her vehicle in the Marine Park Garage.

A 59-year-old woman called at 11:30 a.m. Monday to report the theft of a handicapped parking permit from her vehicle in Lemon Creek.

A 24-year-old woman called at 3:30 p.m. Monday to report the theft of $463 from her locked vehicle at the Douglas Boat Harbor.

A 35-year-old man reported that a Uniden VHF radio, a Lowrance fathometer and an interface fathometer had been stolen from his boat parked outside his home on Mendenhall Loop Road. The theft occurred sometime after Friday.

A 24-year-old man called at 5:30 p.m. Monday to report that a book bag had been stolen from his vehicle on Glacier Highway near downtown four to five days ago. Items were recovered in the woods with the exception of a camera.

Underage drinking:

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for minor consuming and a 15-year-old boy was arrested for miscellaneous sixth-degree controlled substance misconduct near the McNugget intersection. Both were cited and released to their parents.

Vehicle accidents:

A Dodge van driven by a 41-year-old man struck a Chevy Blazer driven by a 38-year-old man at 5:30 p.m. Monday near the Mendenhall Loop/Egan Road intersection. Both vehicles sustained $2,500 damage. The driver of the van was cited for failure to maintain safe distance. The driver of the Blazer was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, treated for whiplash and released. The crash backed up traffic for about a half hour.

Animal encounters:

A bear was reported on Trafalgar Avenue at 4:15 a.m. today.
