• Juneau Jumpers Jump Rope Camp - The Juneau Jumpers will host two half-day jump rope camps for youth ages 7-12. Camp 1 runs from June 12-16 from 8:30 am. to noon while Camp 2 runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $125 and includes a jump rope and a daily snack. Saturday, June 17

• 1st Annual Jim Brooks Memorial Doubles Shooting Marathon and Picnic - The first annual Jim Brooks Memorial Doubles Marathon and Picnic will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Juneau Gun Club on Montana Creek Road. Non-members are invited to both shoot and attend the picnic in honor of the late Regional Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Commissioner of Alaska's Department of Fish and Game. Saturday, June 24

• Ben Blackgoat Memorial Perseverance Trail Run - This run of 2, 4 or 7 miles will start at 9 a.m. at the end of Basin Road. The run is also sponsored by the Southeast Road Runners. Info: Dianne DeSloover, 586-6709,

Saturday, July 1

• Only Fools Run at Midnight race - Holland America Line presents the Only Fools Run at Midnight Race on July 1 at 11:59 p.m. The race starts and ends at Centennial Hall. Pre-register until June 29 at either JRC/The Alaska Club location, Nugget Alaskan Outfitter, Foggy Mountain Shop or the SAIL office. Race day registration begins at 10:30 p.m. in Centennial Hall. Dress up and win prizes, combine five or more runners to compete for best centipede and awards for top runners. T-shirts will be distributed to the first 500 entrants. Proceeds benefit Sail. • Women's Classic Soccer League - The Women's Classic Soccer League, sponsored by the Capital City Soccer League, will start in early July. No previous soccer experience is necessary while new and older players are welcome to join. Games are once a week and usually on Sundays or Mondays. Info: CCSL, 523-9196 or

• Treadwell Arena Summer Schedule - Treadwell Arena will host a variety of summer activities this season, which will run from June 5 to August 11. There will be open gym Monday-Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be drop-in lacrosse from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Drop in roller hockey for kids 12 and under will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by roller hockey for athletes 13 and older from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Every Friday night, there will be disco roller rink form 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Info: 586-0410 or

• Thunder Mountain Sports Camps - Registration has begun for Thunder Mountain Sports Camps. Thunder Mountain Sports Camps have put on soccer and baseball camps for Juneau Parks and Recreation for the last 16 years. The camps feature a positive environment along with instruction from local coaches, along with high school and college coaches from the Lower 48. There is the "Wee" soccer camp on July 17-21, the Regular soccer camp on July 31-August 4, the Advanced Soccer Camp on July 24-28 and the Baseball Camp on July 24-28. • Volunteer soccer coaches needed - The Juneau Parks and Recreation Department is looking for people who are knowledgeable about soccer and enjoy working with youth to be soccer coaches. Interested coaches need to file a volunteer application and a copy of an Interested Persons Report. Coaches may be at least 15 years old. The season runs from July 8 to September 16. The commitment is no more than four hours per week. Teams usually have one weekday practice and one Saturday game. Info: Andrea Carioti, 586-5226.

• Juneau Women's Golf League - The Juneau Women's Golf League is looking for women interested in playing golf. No prior experience is necessary to participate. Clubs and carts can be rented at the Mendenhall Golf Course. League play will be every Thursday at 6 p.m. Golfers may want to contact the course if weather is questionable. • Capital City Soccer League schedule - The Capital City Soccer League will hold its open women's open soccer schedule on Sunday, June 4, 11 and 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Men's open soccer will be held Sundays, June 4, 11 and 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Co-ed soccer will be held May 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 and 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 21. Also, 7v7 is June 3 while summer registration is due June 12. Info: 523-9196.

• Juneau Youth Football League volunteers needed - The Juneau Youth Football League is looking for volunteers to fill coaching and board vacancies. If you are interested in working with some of Juneau's young athletes or help shape youth football in Juneau, this would be the position for you. Info: Robyn Holloway, 209-8437.

• Coed Classic Soccer League - The Coed Classic Soccer League is designed for soccer players ages 30 and older who wish to continue their glory days of playing in an exclusively non-competitive but fun and enjoyable environment. Games take place every Sunday at the Floyd Dryden Middle School gym from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is a $50 fee to join up for the season. Info: Moctar Diouf, 586-3256.

• Community Schools Open Adult Gym time - There will be open adult gym at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School for soccer on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For basketball and volleyball, there will be open gym time on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee and players should bring their own soccer balls, basketballs or volleyballs. • Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. • Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Participants must be able to swim crawlstroke and backstroke. Info: Augustus Brown swim pool, 586-5325.

• Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.

• Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
