Doug Cooper's assumption (Wednesday's Empire) that Gabriella Hebert was used by her parents to write a letter to the editor regarding Wal-Mart is a horribly inaccurate misjudgment and characterization of both this remarkably thoughtful, sweet and brilliant 8-year-old as well as her outstanding and loving parents.

That anyone would hastily criticize and make false claims and accusations in response to a child exercising her right to free speech is what is sad to me.
Furthermore, at no time was Bush mentioned in Hebert's letter, so to assume that her parents "blame Bush for everything" is obviously based on previously conceived notions. In fact, as far as I know, Wal-Mart is the one thing we can't blame Bush for.
Hebert took a stand to publicly say what she thought was right. Whether Cooper agrees with her view or not, he should be proud to live in a community lucky enough to have Hebert among its promising future. I know I am.
