Go cold turkey on Rush

Letter to the editor

Posted: Sunday, June 13, 2004

As my father before me, and his father before him, I served with pride in America's armed forces. My father, grandfather and I fought in three separate wars, overseas. In my family, we uphold: "Duty, honor, country."

Wars aren't always fought on bloodied battlefields - far, far away. Today, an evil menace lurks locally, insidiously creeping closer to our families. I ask you, patriot, "Take one step forward," defend Juneau's children.

Would any citizen, who considers herself an adequate parent, allow a known, illegal drug abuser audience to your impressionable child? Isn't this why we adults protect our "naive" youngsters? Illegal drug abusers are unfit as models. Unless addicts "take the cure" they should be denied, voice.

Juneau must defend against incursions from drug-addled rabble.

It is time our humble community silences self-confessed drug addict Rush Limbaugh. Write to Federal Communications Commission Chair Michael Powell, 445 Twelfth St., S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. Inform Mr. Powell that radio station KJNO Juneau is not operating "in the public interest." Every Alaskan deserves clean, healthy, public airwaves.

B. Wright
