Rules for using the Hank Harmon Rifle Range

Posted: Thursday, June 14, 2001

A small sign at the Hank Harmon Rifle Range lists the rules all shooters should follow.

Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. Except for sanctioned shooting events, this is an unsupervised range. Each person is responsible for his or her own safety.

Do not handle firearms when individuals are downrange tending to targets.

Only fire your weapon directly down whichever range you are using. Do not cross fire or fire at an angle to either side of your target. Targets should be placed directly in front of the shooter.

Only use approved targets.

Do not use breakable targets including paint cans, glass containers, appliances, or fruits and vegetables.

After shooting, pick up your targets and place them in the trash bins, or take them home. Do not leave them on the range.
