Mitch McDonald, geologist for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, collects a core sample that was drilled near the Brotherhood Bridge and the MendenhallRiver. The crew will be drilling in the area for a couple weeks to check the soil density and type for afoundation recommendation on future bridge widening.
