KLAWOCK - Jennifer Young, the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium community injury prevention coordinator, will travel to the communities of Craig and Klawock from June 22 to 26 for a series of home visits for elders and families wanting someone to check their houses for injury risks.
Young will work with the SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center, the Klawock Cooperative Association and Craig Community Association staff to make sure Prince of Wales Island homes have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in good working order and with fresh batteries. She also will provide non-slip bath mats for those needing one so they can prevent falls in the tub. Soft nightlights and glow-in-the-dark tape will be available to place near switches and plug-ins located in dark areas. A falls risk assessment will be completed in the homes of elders. Jennifer will be in Craig on Monday and Tuesday and in Klawock on Wednesday through Friday.
