I am a 45-year Alaska resident and have been involved in Fish & Game issues the entire time.
I am getting a little tired of hearing about an individual animal who has been practically humanized. If anyone is to be blamed for the demise of Romeo it is the people who fed and coddled him.
We put out our garbage the morning of pick up to keep from habituating bears. The same should have been applied to the wolf. If people want a pet, they should go to the shelter where there are lots of needy, tame animals.
The wolf's death is multiple-use management at it's best: lots of good pictures ending with a fine rug. One suggestion for the pending bronze statue of Romeo: pose him with a beagle in his mouth.
