ANCHORAGE - An Anchorage high school and middle school complex could add a clinic, community lecture hall and other facilities under a proposal to be considered by the school board.
The Anchorage School Board will consider adding the facilities to the space now used by West High and Romig Middle School.
The first floor of a proposed new structure would be for the public. Second and third floors would be for middle and high school education.
Proponent say it would be a return to the West High of old when the facility was Anchorage's only high school and the auditorium served as Anchorage's major arts venue.
Construction cost is estimated $145 million to $169 million. Furnishings and other costs could bump that to $200 million to $236 million.
