JUNEAU - The University of Southeast campus in Ketchikan will be in a transitional leadership period during the academic year 2010-2011, the school announced last week.
As of July 1, a transitional leadership team will direct campus operations and responsibilities. The transitional team consists of Dr. Priscilla Schulte, Gail Klein and Wendy Gierard.
Assistant director for Workforce Development Wendy Gierard will temporarily assume duties in several campus operations, including public relations, facilities, grants and contracts, and human resources. In addition, she will coordinate the monthly meetings of the Ketchikan Advisory Council.
Professor of Anthropology and Sociology Dr. Priscilla Schulte will continue in her role as director for instruction on the Ketchikan campus, working with full- and part-time faculty for course sequencing and other academic affairs. In addition, Schulte will oversee the operations of the Student Learning Center.
Gail Klein will continue in her role as Student Services Manager.
UAS Ketchikan campus director Cathy LeCompte departs at the end of June. A search committee for a new campus director made up of community members, faculty and staff will be appointed by UAS Chancellor John Pugh with the search commencing in the fall of 2010.
The transitional leadership team will ensure the Ketchikan campus operates smoothly and efficiently until a new director is seated.
