UAS announces Chancellor's list, Dean's list for spring
The University of Alaska Southeast has announced those who qualified for the Chancellor's List and for the Dean's List for the spring 2001 semester. To be eligible for the Chancellor's list, a student must earn a 4.00 grade-point average. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a 3.50 grade-point average is required. Students must complete at least 12 credit hours during the semester to qualify.

Congratulations and thanks are in order to Kim Kiefer and the folks at the City and Borough Parks and Recreation Department. The city has purchased and installed new bear-proof trash bins in Cope Park, along the Mendenhall River Trail and other places sometimes frequented by bruins. The new trash bins are a nifty design from Canada that have frustrated the best scavenging efforts by bears in Kluane, Banff and other bear hot spots.
