Education support staff election results
The Alaska Public Employees Association/American Federation of Teachers announced the results of the elections for the Juneau Education Support Staff.
Chris Blust, a Para educator in the Juneau-Douglas High School, won re-election as President of the chapter while Barb Bechtold, a spec. ed Para educator at Riverbend, was elected Secretary. Jorge Cordero, who works as a custodian at Glacier Valley Elementary, was re-elected as the parliamentarian; Julie Simpson, a clerk at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, was elected to be the Public Relations/Employee Rep Coordinator; and Mike Young, a Para educator at the Juneau-Douglas High School, was elected as the Communications Officer.
The Juneau Education Support Staff represents approximately 270 employees in the Juneau School District who hold diverse jobs as teacher assistants, maintenance workers, custodial workers, the school nurses, RALLY personnel, the attendance clerks, administrative assistants, secretaries and other clerical workers as well as the computer technicians and the Juneau-Douglas High School Auditorium technicians.
