The University Alaska Southeast Environmental Science program hosted a reception to thank four local helicopter companies and an engineering firm that have contributed considerable time, instruments, helicopter support and enthusiasm for the program's ongoing research projects.
Haight and Associates and Coastal Helicopters helped to establish the Fish Creek Knob snow science study site on Douglas Island in 2003-04. TEMSCO Helicopters has supported high-elevation rainfall study sites. ERA helicopters is helping with glacier outburst lake studies on the Lemon Glacier, and North Star Helicopters is helping with Mendenhall Glacier thinning and retreat research. The companies have helped with free and reduced rate transportation and other support. The faculty, students and administration at UAS are grateful for their encouragement and support.
