Only Fools Run at Midnight Race - Holland America Lines presents the Only Fools Run at Midnight race at 11:59 p.m. Saturday at Centenial Hall. Prizes and awards for best costumes, centipedes and top runners. With a 5K run and a 1-mile walk/wheel, this is a fundraiser for the entire family. Post-race refreshments and t-shirts for the first 500 entrants. Pre-register at either JRC/The Alaska Club location and the Southeast Alaska Independant Living (SAIL) office or the night of the race beginning at 10:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit Southeast Alaska Independant Living.

Speed and agility camp - Pavitt Health and Fitness is holidng a speed and agility camp for athlets ages 10-18 tought by Cassandra Hajicek, B.S. in Exercise Science/Sports. Each camp is Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, with the next minicamp starting on June 18. Minicamps will run through August 2. Cost is $80 plus tax for the four-day session. Volunteer soccer coaches needed - Juneau Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteer coaches for the upcoming Outdoor Soccer Program. The season will run from July 7 to September 15. Persons knowledgable about soccer, who enjoy working with youth, are encouraged to call Parks and Rec or drop by the office for more information. The commitment is no more than four hours per week and you must be at least 15 years old. Info: Parks and Rec, 586-5226.
JDHS turf field available - The turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School is available for community use. The chrage for reserving the field is $5 per hour for non-profit youth groups, $10 per hour for non-profit adult groups and $15 per hour for all other groups. Individuals and groups are asked to keep food, drink, gum and animals off the field. To reserve the field, contact Community Schools at 523-1773.
Treadwell Arena summer schedule - Treadwell Arena will re-open with the summer schedule Monday, June 4 through July 20. Monday-Friday Drop-In Gym 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Monday and Wednesday Facility rental 6 p.m-8 p.m, Friday Inline and Roller Skating under the disco ball 6 p.m-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday Drop-In Youth Roller Hockey (ages 12 & under) 4 p.m-6 p.m, Tuesday Drop-In Roller Hockey 6 p.m-8 p.m (all ages), Thursday Drop-In Roller Hockey 6 p.m-8 p.m (ages 13 & up). Roller skates and inline skates will not be provided or available to rent. Treadwell Arena will open 15 minutes prior to the activity time. Juneau Parks and Recreation Treadwell Summer Camp - The nature-based/non-competitive sports Treadwell Summer Day Camp will be based at Treadwell Arena in Douglas. There will be five weeks of camp beginning June 11 through July 20 for ages 7-11, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. Fee is $73. Campers will have the opportunity to pan for gold, build volcanoes, plant trees, build sand castles at Sandy Beach and enjoy many other hands-on activities. Tuesday Best Ball Golf League - The 2007 Tuesday Best Ball Golf League, a fun golf competition for men and women, starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Mendenhall Golf Course. Teams of golfers will compete for points in a best-ball format with cash prizes at season's end. Players pay green fees and a $5 weekly entry fee. No registration is necessary. Kids Camp at JRC/The Alaska Club - The annual Kids Camp at the JRC/The Alaska Club will take place from June 4 to August 17 for kids ages 5-12. Juneau Women's Golf League - The Juneau Women's Golf League will play every Thursday, with a shotgun start at 6 p.m. at the Mendenhall Golf Course. The league is looking for women interested in playing golf. No prior experience is necessary to participate. Clubs and carts can be rented at the course. League play will be every Thursday at 6 p.m. through August 16. Golfers should contact the course if weather is questionable. Dzantik'i Heeni open gym - Community Schools in cooperation with the PEP grant is sponsoring open gyms at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for youth in grades 6-12. Open Badminton Gym - There will be open badminton at Auke Bay School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. All skill levels are encouraged to attend. Bring a racquet if you have one. Birdies will be provided. Cost is $3 per person. Info: Theresa, 790-2499.
Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
