A statement in Thursday's Empire by the owner of Mendenhall Center that J.C. Penney has closed in Juneau requires some clarification. The Penney store did close at the center in January, but simultaneously moved to 2490 Industrial Boulevard, where it continues to operate, said chief financial officer Mike Lundberg.
