Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Drunken driving:

• Police arrested Mary Rivera, 42, on a charge of drunken driving at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday near Aurora Harbor. They lodged her at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A woman visiting Juneau reported at 8:54 a.m. Thursday that a pair of diamond earrings valued at $1,500 was stolen near South Franklin Street.

• At 9 a.m. Thursday, a man reported that a red mountain bike, valued at $150, was stolen a few days ago near South Franklin Street.

Vehicle accident:

• Police cited a man, 24, on a charge of failing to exercise due care to avoid an accident after a two-vehicle accident at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday on Douglas Highway. The man was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that reportedly struck the rear of a 1991 Ford pickup, driven by a man, 21. No injuries were reported. The Jeep sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage. The Ford sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage.

Lost property:

• At 2:16 p.m. Wednesday, a man reported losing his black leather wallet sometime since Monday, somewhere in Juneau.

Found property:

• A round of ammunition turned over to a police officer at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday near Vintage Boulevard in the Valley by someone who reported finding it.


• Capital City Fire & Rescue reported responding early Wednesday evening to a report of a tree on fire near a playing field at Mendenhall River Elementary School. Firefighters found that someone had used a substance to set fire to a spruce tree. The fire scorched about 10 feet of the trunk and spread no further. Bystanders put the fire out with a portable extinguisher before firefighters arrived at the scene.
