(Regarding Sunday's Outdoors article about Juneau surgeon David Miller and Bullwinkle's Pizza Parlor owner Bill Adair's hunting trip in Zimbabwe.)
Sound off on the important issues at
It's obvious that our fearless Juneau hunters are bwanas deserving praise - ridding the world of another dangerous predator. But wait a minute, who is really dangerous here? Who actually attacked whom?
Did the leopard book a hunt, travel 10,000 miles, shell out big bucks to a landowner, hire several well-armed local leopards for backup and make a glorious, suitably dramatic kill of that lone human who was minding its own business and acting in self-defense? Did the leopard have a spot picked out in the family room for the snarling, taxidermized heads of Adair and Miller?
Once again, history is written by the victors. Forgive me if I'm not impressed by both the Juneau Empire's slanted reportage and this tale of mock-heroic thrill killing. I call on others to join me in boycotting Bullwinkle's Pizza and the services of Dr. Death, thereby ending our support of their sick hobby.
