JUNEAU - The local group of Organizing for America, a national organization dedicated to improving our communities through service and action, will hold a Cyclists for Health Care Reform event starting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 26,
in the parking lot of Juneau-Douglas High School. Participants will bike to Sandy Beach.
Poster board signs for those who want to strap them to their bikes during the ride will be available. After the ride, people can socialize, pick up some literature on health care reform and sign petitions proclaiming their support for health care reform. Donations are invited, which will benefit Juneau local Planned Parenthood clinic.
Also, OFA will put on a donation drive for which it will distribute fliers and maps to volunteers who want to go door to door at the Mendenhall Valley and downtown libraries from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20. Those volunteers who pick up fliers and maps will have until June 25 to go door to door and drop off fliers asking for donations for Front Street Clinic. On June 27,
volunteers will go to the neighborhood where they visited and pick up donations off households porches. All donations will be dropped off at the Unitarian Church, where OFA volunteers will be standing by to collect, sort and deliver to the Front Street Clinic.
