JUNEAU - The Matanuska state ferry returns to service next week.
The ferry, which has been out of service since last year, is scheduled to sail Tuesday from Ketchikan to Prince Rupert in Canada's British Columbia.
Roger Wetherell with Alaska's transportation department said the vessel is returning from a nine-month overhaul in Portland, Ore.
He said the ferry is delayed coming back into service by three days because of required training for the crew on a new evacuation system and an automated testing system in the ship's engine room.
The state's entire fleet will be in service after the fast ferry Fairweather returns to service July 1.
