Laurie Whistler of Juneau and Doug Gardner of Juneau were married in a Highland wedding on Jan. 18, 2003, at the Northern Light United Church.
Following the ceremony, family and friends joined the bride and groom at a Ceilidh at the Elks Lodge, where there was music and dance from Stroller White Pipes and Drums, Dave Hunsaker, the Midnight Sun Pipe Band, members of the Olympia Highlanders, the Taku Gaels and the Greatful Celtics.
The marriage was performed by Marriage Commissioner Bruce Botelho. The bride's sister, Kathy Bowman, was matron of honor. Her daughter, Kelly Whistler, was the bridesmaid.
The groom's best man was Wilson Condon, and the groomsman was step-son Brian Whistler.
Doug is an assistant district attorney with the State of Alaska, and Laurie is a loan officer at First National Bank of Alaska. The couple resides on Douglas Island.
