Juneau resident Richard Horn Britt, 86, died June 18, 2003.
He was born July 6, 1916, in Springfield, Mass. He graduated from Rockland High School in Rockland, Maine, and the University of Maine.
He served in the U.S. Navy until he entered the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He retired as a lieutenant commander from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1966 and then worked as an environmental engineer with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
After retiring from the state of Alaska, he continued to live in Juneau. He was a member of Northern Light United Church and Elks Lodge No. 420.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 21, at the Elks Lodge.
