Veterans for Kerry forms in Juneau

Letter to the editor

Posted: Sunday, June 20, 2004

Juneau veterans are concerned about the Bush administration's policy of pre-emptive war, based on unsound intelligence. We are upset that our troops were sent to Iraq without adequate training and equipment. We are angered at the attempt to hide the returning caskets of fallen soldiers and other costs of this war. Above all, we are appalled that George Bush, if re-elected, will propose a $910 million cut to the budget of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

For those reasons, several other veterans and I are forming a Juneau chapter of Veterans for John Kerry. The organizational meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at 437 West 12th St. (the corner of 12th and B streets), downtown Juneau. If you would like to help elect a real veteran to the White House, please join or contact us.
