Leopard photographs were sad, disgusting

It has been nearly 40 years since the Beatles sang, "Hey, Bungalow Bill, what did you kill?"

And while it was too much to hope that those with doubts as to their own potency might cease making a sport of killing wild animals, it did seem that the days of glorifying the great white hunter were a thing of the past.

Sadly, not so. There was Juneau surgeon David Miller, in living color, gracing Sunday's Outdoor section triumphing over a leopard that, even in death, looked a hell of a lot more noble than he.

If the image of his manly visage glowering over his prostrate prize were not enough of a caricature, gee whiz, we even brought back the loyal native gun bearer - who undoubtedly did most of the heavy lifting on the safari, including holding up the carcass so we could enjoy a second shot of Bungalow Dave mocking the spirit of his kill.

Shame on the Empire for showcasing these sad, disgusting photographs.
