Lake resident records girls harassing swans

ANCHORAGE - A video posted on the Internet of two girls driving a personal watercraft through a family of trumpeter swans has gained the attention of wildlife authorities.

A resident of Big Lake in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough recorded the girls last week.

Lodge owner Houston Snyder posted the video on YouTube and it was reported this week by Anchorage TV station KTUU.

An agent from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was expected to visit the lake Wednesday.

At Big Lake, neighbors are donating money for a reward.

Community council member Lynda Tyler said the goal is not to punish anyone but to bring the matter to light and to educate people who use the lake.
