Weddings

Brittany Jean Sarkesian and John William Kuterbach, both of Juneau, were married May 23, 2009, at the Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau. A reception followed at the Buoy Deck.

The bride is the daughter of Elizabeth and Wayne Hixson, and Mike Sarkesian. A 2005 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, she graduated in May in elementary education from Washington State University.

The groom is the son of Vickie Williams and John F. Kuterbach. Also a 2005 JDHS graduate, he is an Army ROTC cadet and will graduate in December from Texas A&M University.

The maid of honor was Jennifer Schiewe, of Olympia, Wash. Bridesmaids were Lindsay Court, of Olympia; Maggie Logan, of Juneau; and Connie Loken, of Juneau. The groom's sister, Dorothy Kuterbach, was the flower girl.

The best man was James Purcell, of Villa Rica, Ga. Groomsmen were Reese Bruechner, of Austin; Travis Hogins, of Juneau; and the bride's brother, Michael Sarkesian, of Juneau. Ushers were the bride's cousins, Travis and Trevor Larsen, of Juneau.

The couple will honeymoon in Kauai and Kona, Hawaii, and make their home in College Station, Texas, until John graduates and commissions with the Army in December.
