Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


A 30-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence assault at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday in Salmon Creek. He was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


Police received a report at 7:49 a.m. Wednesday of 20 CDs stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive.

A man called at 12:06 p.m. Wednesday to report the theft of a black digital acupressure tire gauge and a green garage door opener from the Alderwood area. The items are valued at $45.

A man called at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday to report that his unlocked vehicle on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive had been rifled.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

Police received a report of a broken right rear window of a vehicle on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday.

A man called at 6:34 a.m. today to report that his mailbox on Threadneedle Street had been struck by a vehicle sometime overnight. The mailbox will cost $50-60 to be repaired.

Vehicle accidents:

A '98 Toyota Camry driven by a 82-year-old man struck a '92 GMC Jimmy driven by a 30-year-old man on Egan Drive at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday. The Camry sustained $1,500 in damages; the Jimmy sustained $2,500.

An '89 Ford Escort driven by a 68-year-old woman struck a '99 Ford pickup truck driven by a 28-year-old woman on Glacier Highway near the Auke Bay Boat Harbor at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday. The Escort sustained $4,000 in damages, and the driver was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital, where she was treated for fractured ribs and released.

Animal encounters:

A bear was reported near Auke Bay Harbor at 2:34 a.m. today.


Capital City Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday, reporting a small car fire at Engineer's Cut Off. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

A 27-year-old man was cited and released for driving on an expired Vermont license at 11:24 p.m. on the Douglas side of the Douglas Bridge. The vehicle was moved by a licensed driver.

A 42-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct at 11:36 p.m. on South Franklin Street. He was taken to state prison and held on $250 bail.
