Dave and Claudine Hammonds, formerly of Juneau, will celebrate of their 50th wedding anniversary on June 23. They were married in 1956 in Carson City, Nev.

In April 1963, they moved to Juneau from Modesto, Calif. Dave worked for a short while at the old Montana Creek Saw Mill before going to work for the state of Alaska Department of Public Works. He eventually retired from the Department of Transportation in October 1986.
Claudine owned and operated Ye Country Yarn Shop and taught knitting classes with Community Schools. For several years, she was also the secretary/dispatcher for Public Employees Local 71.
The couple were members of the American Legion, Auke Bay Post 25. Juneau was their home for 40 years, where they raised six children: Claudette Kreuzenstein, Walt Hammonds, Dave Hammonds Jr., Tom Hammonds, Mary Cogswell and Melinda Yorba.
